Finally went to a specialist for a medical condition and they recommended that I try a gluten free diet. Not excited about this, and I am not doing it as a fad. In fact, I am pretty bummed about the whole thing but need some resources. Anyone on a gluten free diet and have some ideas for ways to make this more fun than I am imagining it is going to be? I am a total carboholic.

| I had to go gluten free due to medical condition too. I have found a ton of good ideas at glutenfreegoddess.com |
| Check out these websites: All against Grain. And Nom Nom Paleo. Both have great recipes. |

+1 for glutenfreegoddess.
Her basic bread recipe is the best ever, and very easy to make. It's our house bread now. |
| They make good gluten-free substitutes for just about everything now. Check out Udi's, Rudi's, Amy's, and Kinninnick brands. There are gluten free pastas, oatmeal, cereal, bread, cookies, etc. Have corn tortillas instead of flour. Wegmans has a great gluten-free brownie mix. No need to give up your favorite foods. |

Gluten free pancakes are good, as are brownies and cupcakes. Doritos and Cheetos. Chipotle. You can do it OP. |
| OP here -- Thanks for the links and suggestions. Feeling a bit more optimistic with time. At least maybe now I can lost the last 10 pounds of baby weight if I have a diet overhaul...that's something, right? |
Beware of the gluten free substitutes for breads, cookies, frozen meals, etc. they are full of fat and calories. Your best bet starting gluten free, especially if you want to lose weight, is to eat unprocessed foods that are naturally gluten free. Vegetables, fruits, simply made meats. Then start adding in the processed gf foods. But keep track of the extra calories. There will be a point where you will buy all the gf cookie options at Whole Foods because by going gf you feel like you are being deprived, but take a step back and look at the healthiest way of balancing your meals and snacks. |
| Yes, GF isn't for weight loss but you can be GF and follow a sensible diet. |
