Does anyone know or have a sense of how many kids apply to pre-k privates (sidwell, GDS, WIS, beauvoir)?
I was never given a sense of the applicant pool we were dealing with. |
| GDS- about 10 |
?huh? |

For K admitted student range from about 10% (sidwell, Maret) to maybe 25% at less exclusive schools.
That was my best guess last year from what I heard from ADs and teachers. |
| I think preK might be the hardest entry. B/c you have no real data, so it is all about the parents. |
Do you mean 10%? |
| 5-20 percent acceptance rate, depending on the school. |

I was told by an educational consultant that for preK, Sidwell has the lowest acceptance rate, with GDS, WIS, and Beauvoir all in the 10-25% range, with huge variations by year. Most other schools apparently have admit rates above those for preK, with some very close and some accepting most applicants. Nice as it is that someone compiles the acceptances on DCUM, I don't think the numbers here reflect the larger community. Many/most applicants' parents probably don't look here and certainly don't post their results here.
Good luck with your applications. |
| I am in admissions and the previous poster is correct. The DCUM numbers are not at all correct. This is an entertain g venue, but not at all representative of reality! |

| I wonder whether OP meant how big the total applicant pool is for the dc area. If your average applicant makes 3 to 6 applications they can still only accept at one school. So are there, say, 620 pk4 kids trying for 482 good school slots? |
