Can current Latin families please comment on the existence or non-existence of differentiated classrooms at the 5-8 grade level? I have heard mixed reports, and even some current parents seem unclear as to whether their rising 7th grader will be in a differentiated math class. I understand that there is no differentiated math class structure in fifth and sixth, but that perhaps this starts in seventh or eighth. I am trying to get a straight story.
Can families there now please comment on the structure as well as its effectiveness? Also, does the HS offer AP courses? If so, which ones? |

There is differentiation in the classroom and it's not one size fist all. It helps that class size is small.
I also know many 7th graders taking Algebra 1 and a few taking algebra II. Teachers actually work with the students in the classroom rather than zoom through the book and ask students to see them in their office during student hours. Of course there are AP courses but not in 9th grade, if that's what you're looking for. |
| NP here. Thanks for the info. I saw on the Latin homework wiki that the textbook is by Prentice Hall. I could have sworn that a friend's kid used a Saxon math book last year, but I certainly could be mistaken. I ask because I like what I've seen of the Saxon curriculum for younger students and was happy that Latin was using Saxon. Do parents/teachers like the Prentice Hall curriculum? |
