so I have tonsil stones. I think I don't have any big ones trapped now I have gotten them out before, but I am sure there is crap in there. my tonsils really smell and as a result my breath.
I know I need to work on the cause, what I think is allergies including food, but what I really need to know is what to squirt on them or use to clean them. will it just go away with gargling something? do I literally need to pay $50 and buy something to squirt water/cleaner in there? like a water pik? is there a cheaper faster solution? help this is so embarrassing....

| doc said a water pic was good but really the only way to get rid of them is to get your tonsils out. |

I got rid of mine by getting my tonsils removed at the ripe old age of 40.
Before that I was ALWAYS stressed about the smell. I spent hours, digging, squeezing out these from my swollen, putrid tonsils. I also always caught throat infections. I had stashes of Z-paks from across the border, because it was just easier to treat myself. So, get it removed. It takes 10 days of pain killers and eating soup, but you will recover, and then never fall sick. I have not had antibiotics since years now. Best decision ever. My kid (10 years old) recently discovered he had it too. He had no smell in his mouth, but a feeling of something struck in his throat. Waterpik works at the lowest settings. Place it in the crevice and blast it out. His tonsils is coming out this summer! |

What asshole in the 80s decided to tell doctors not to renove tonsils from kids.
The only way is qtip. I use this 12 hour fresh breath mouthwash that keeps them away but I get small ones every once in a while so that may not work. Fore severe cases. |

yeah, the worst part is I have these pitted tonsils now. so there's basically no way that this isn't going to keep happening.
I wish I could figure out the cause.... |
My DD got pitted tonsils after mono in 4th grade. Usually one big infection like mono can do this kind of damage to your tonsils. Tonsils are supposed to be the police force of your immune system, UNLESS it becomes the corrupt police force. Then you need to destroy it. |

These work for me: http://www.amazon.com/Monoject-Curved-412-Syringes-5pcs/dp/B007Y8230G
Don't waste your money on TheraBreath products like I did. But these syringes have changed my life. I can't see my stones, even shining a light in there, so I never knew what to do with a Q-tip. Now I spray one syringe of water in each side twice a week, and a tiny bit of that gunk comes out each time -- but before it has the chance to become a stinky stone. I finally feel like I have control over the situation, woohoo! |
| Getting your tonsils removed as an adult is a BIG DEAL. There is potential for serious complications. I'd just keep attacking them, OP. I notice sometimes that certain foods make it worse (tortilla chips and other processed hard foods like that just get trapped back there). |
