Its not really timely anymore, but I'm wondering what other mcps elementary schools did about the Valentines Day parties? My kids are at a public primary school (grades pre-k to 2nd) and they were not allowed to have the parties on the first day back after the snow days. I know it may seem silly to be upset about it, but they are little kids, is a 30 minute party that bad? Is this what happened at all schools or just ours? |
our school had them on the first day back (pretty sure it was a 2 hr delay day) |
Lady, sorry to be blunt, but seriously? |
I am a teacher. First day back. I love celebrating with themĀ” |
They celebrated on Tuesday the 18th. |
We had ours on the next friday - the 21st. |
Two schools -- one had a party on the day back, the other just had a quick treat and exchanged Valentines. |
Ours (in DC) had small celebrations the day they went back. They had a good time and then back to work! |
Friday, the 21st. So fun! |
Our MCPS school didn't have them. My kid is a fourth grader and this is the second time since he started elementary that weather forced the cancellation. OP, I suspect we're in the same catchment since not many MCPS schools are K-2. It's nice that they do parties for holidays, but really it seems insane that any parent would be upset about having to cancel due to weather, or any kid either. |
My 1st grader's class had them the second day back--a note came home the first day saying it would be the next day. At preschool, they had it the next Friday. |
Our MCPS Elementary school had them on their first day back - Tuesday Feb 18 even though their was a two hour delay. And many parents still showed up too!
Our daycare also held them on the same Tuesday afternoon. |
We had ours on the the 26th |
We had it first day back after 2 hour delay start. |
Our school is 3-6 and parties were cancelled although they exchanged valentines the following Tuesday. I was glad! I think it would be nice to reschedule for the little ones though. |
