Well, now I'm curious to know what happened with Discovery Woods. The people behind Nurturing Roots used to run Discovery Woods....interesting.

The news about Discovery Woods made its rounds in my area - the school closed mid-year due to fiscal mismanagement. The teachers were supposedly incredible though.

$700/week is a lot - my question would be why they need more than any other school I've heard of to operate.

$700 a week is getting into nanny share territory. This is a home daycare. That is an unreal price.

Frankly, it's because they are scam artists.

I was trying to be more gentle but yes, charging well above market rate is a huge red flag IMO. The last place I came across charging twice the norm for the type of care they were offering was later raided and shut down by the authorities - the whole thing was a sham. If you can't run your operation with a honest price than perhaps you're not operating honestly.

Wow. I visited Discovery Woods last year but felt the school's curriculum was too loosy-goosy. The facilities were great though.

If they closed mid-year, what happened to all their families?

I believe they are trying to organize their own school....there's a thread a few pages back.

Those who paid the year's tuition in advance (there was a discount for doing so) were not refunded for the remaining months and left to find other care.

Wow, has anyone filed suit yet?

Who are these people and why do they keep failing?

They did successfully reorganize (the teachers and parents) and are operating again. It's called eastern ridge school

The student child ratio I believe is very small, but I don't know why they wouldn't cut teachers before closing.
