issue with left eye when I awaken

I have noticed that when I wake up, normally at night to use the facilities, that there is a ghost shadow in my left eye. That is when I look at the wall or floor, that things seem slightly darker and less focused in my left eye. It goes away once I turn on a bright light, but before that, at dusk/dawn, low light, the effect is there. Any ideas what it is?

See an opthalmologist. You need to have your retina examined.

OP here, yes agreed, will do in next week or so. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this as well. I'll let you know what the eye doctor says....
