I own a house with someone else and the mortgage bill is mailed to their address so the mortgage company is reporting that I live at that person's address so it shows up that way in my credit report. I reported this to the mortgage company and supposedly they sent an automated notice to correct the information but it's still showing up that way on my credit report.
How do I fix this? Do I also have to write to each of the credit bureaus? Is there even a chance this will get fixed or am I wasting my time? I know someone is going to ask why I care and it's because I want my information reflected accurately. For example, when I fill out background check paperwork I don't want there to be an issue when they pull my credit and see all these other addresses. |

Send a letter to each credit agency and ask them to correct it.
They should fix it. It's easy. |
Should I also include the letter from the mortgage company noting their records are incorrect or just a straight letter to them? I guess the other thing I'm worried about is that the mortgage company didn't actually correct it. As silly as this is, they told me they can only have one billing address per property so since my partner receives the mortgage bill his address is the one that gets reported for both of us. I'll try writing the credit agencies and hopefully that works. |
