Does the IRS have live representatives?

Anonymous
I tried calling to ask a question and there was a recording saying they longer have agents, only FAQ's online. Is that right? It's been a couple of years but I remember calling in and speaking to a very helpful rep. Should I be trying a different department or something?

You should support full funding. Of course services are reduced. There is no money.

I read an article that said live reps would be severely limited this year. They are only answering very basic questions, which really makes no sense. If you have a question, you'll have to find a tax professional.

It makes perfect sense. They weren't funded. Harder questions require more resources to answer them. If you are mad about it, tell congress!

So they're still available but at limited times? What are those times?
