My DC has a bad respiratory infection which is supposed to last up to 12 days. We're on day 8 with no relief in sight. Very active little guy and he's HATING life being cooped up in the house. We've done playdough and dancing/singing, scribbling and blocks, puzzles, cars and trucks, and playing in a steamy bath. I've even let him watch TV way too much, ugh.
Any suggestions on other activities? He's 2 and a total outdoor boy who's imprisoned inside.

setup a tent (or make one of chairs/blankets/etc), maybe even open the windows to let the fresh air in and pretend to camp.
bundle up and take a walk outside? |
I'd love to take him outside. I just have my mom's voice in my head telling me that the cold wind will make him worse..... |
| what do you mean by respiratory infection? if you mean a bad cold...with no fever, and he sounds like he's active and wants to play, I'm not sure there's any harm in going out. It is rather cold today so I might not spend a lot of time outside, but he might enjoy (and so might you) a walk around the mall in the stroller and a snack at Starbucks or something |
| Second the idea to get him out of the house for a little while, well bundled of course , as long as he doesn't have a fever. |

Third person echoing going outside - in fact, cold air might help. In fact, children with croup (although I know the OP said respiratory infection and not croup) are recommended to go out side to help alleviate it.
Sure, it's chilly and windy. So bundle up. You don't have to stay outside long and if you're moving (playing ball, pushing around some toys, etc.) then I don't think 15, 20, 30 minutes will be harmful - in fact, probably helpful. Obviously, if your DS is feeling well enough to play and actually going stir crazy, than I think going outside will be just fine. |
