abdominal muscle pain early on?

Anonymous
I am 16 weeks and already, I feel a lot of pulling and muscle strain (for lack of a better word). I don't know why, but I thought this would occur later than 16 weeks. Has anyone ever had this and will it just continue for 5 more months straight?!

Thanks!

I had it that early, both pregnancies, which is weird since my abs were in MUCH better shape before baby #1. I found it comes in spurts--it will subside then come back, though at the later months it's hard to differentiate the muscle pulling pain from the baby pushing on all your internal organs pain. I'm pretty sure it is normal, especially if you have decent ab muscles to begin with.

I'm in my first pregnancy and have had a lot of muscle pain since around my 13th week (right now I'm in my 24th). Most of the pain has been on the sides of my abdomen, running diagonally towards my crotch. My midwife confirmed that what I'm experiencing is completely normal as the round ligaments are stretching to accommodate a growing uterus. I've found that pre-natal yoga can help with limit the pain...

I am 23 weeks and have had cramping and abdominal streching pain throughout. It started in my first trimester and was actually very painful. Now I just have cramping around my lower right and left (usually right) abdomen. My doctors says this is totally normal and fine (so long as accompanied by no bleeding).

I am going to start taking prenatal yoga this week and hope that helps some.

Hope this helps.
