I am having 2-3 grownups and their children (plus mine) over for lunch nest weekend and am totally at a loss about what to serve--any ideas are helpful. Thanks!

Quiche plus salad. Good bread and maybe some cheese or nice jams. Fruit for dessert. My kid LOVES quiche plus it works well for adults and is easy to have ready.

I like the above quiche idea. Another suggestion is to have an assortment of bagels and croissants, and serve with thinly sliced deli meats and cheeses, and good condiments, sliced tomato, lettuce, etc, so people can make their own sandwiches. Serve with a green salad for any guests who just want salad and meat or cheese. I'd also have some cut fruit and a sweet treat since there will be kids - have you purchased any girl scout cookies lately? if so use those.

blech.

Go for a really nice soup in the crockpot and a beautiful green salad with lots of avocado.

For muchies ahead of lunch, go to Moby Dicks and pick up some hummus and babaganoush and serve with pita and veggies.

Find out what the kids can/will eat and work out whether you do one lunch for both adults and kids or something separate for the kids. If the kids like pasta, you could easily do a pasta for all and serve with two sauces - something simple the kids will like and something a bit more impressive for the adults like tossing the pasta with roasted Mediterranean veg and whizzing up a batch of fresh pesto. You could serve with a nice salad and fresh crusty bread.

I am not a fan of soup and my kids wouldn't touch it. What about grilled chicken caesar salad with bow tie pasta.

ver

this is a great idea. easy and delicious and everyone can customize so no stressing about food restrictions and preferences. put the condiments in little dishes/bowls rather than leaving in bottles, and pick up some cornichons, olives, etc. to make the sandwich platter more interesting.

Only if you male really good ceasar dressing. I love ceasar sad, but most are gross due to poor quality.

Sounds heavy. Personally I do not eat pasta for lunch.
