what is the academy at Sligo Creek elementary?

There isn't much information on the website. I see they are having an open house next week but I am wondering if I need to attend. Can any academy parents explain what it is and what makes it different from the regular school program? Thanks.

I think the Academy IS the regular school program. I think it's just a catchy name to differentiate it from the immersion program.

But I'm not an SCES parent, just have friends there.

Yes, it's just the non-immersion, regular school program. Once upon a time, the county had extra science and math resources, but budget cuts have yanked all of that.

They have a monthly science speaker and will soon have an outdoor classroom that will be part of the science experience
