I would love to be watching the DC DME performance hearing now - but no dice.
Whatever this "granicus" format and silverlight stuff is associated with streaming their video makes it impossible to watch on a normal computer. Not available on android on any form. Windows media player at the office won't stream it, and as a fed, no solution that would say, "well just install X on your computer and you're good" is going to work - I have no right to install anything on my office computer. Why they can't stream in a broadly accessible format (when afterwards they create both .mp3 and .mp4), is really, really annoying! Do the people at the Council realize they lose would-be active parents/education participants because of this? |
go to http://dccouncil.us/calendar and click "watch live now" under any hearing and you can see the hearing live
Silverlight is the same plug-in you need to stream Netflix. I'd call it fairly standard and not at all a heavy lift in 2014.
The all caps is not necessary.
So annoying that the title of your thread is in unreadable format.
ha. I am OP and laughing along with mockery of my all-caps-anger. I just needed to let it out. But do you all really have the experience of the "watch live" working just fine? My windows media player just times out having never opened anything.
Do you have silverlight?
not on office computer
Is this something that can be watched later from home?
I work in DC government and have to watch another hearing that is occurring now. I do not have this silverlight thing on my computer at work--just the standard windows media player--and i pulled up both my hearing and the education hearing fine with no problem.
^^and I did this through the Mozilla Firefox browser
I've been able to watch them just fine from my federal government computer which limits just about all things. So the fact that I can watch it - and I get almost no access - means that you may want to restart your computer and try again.
