I moved here about 6 months ago and live far away from Wegman's. But I've heard enough about it that I want to go. It would be a waste of time without a shopping list!
What are some Wegman's-specific things you like? (groceries, but also if I want to eat lunch there) TIA! |
| I love their fresh mozzarella and their cheese spreads- pimento, asiago artichoke, spicy vegetable. Their store brand is really good as well- everything is just as or very close to name brand quality. Their sheet cake is AMAZING and so are their sticky buns and a lot of their bakery breads. Their produce is really fresh and good quality and reasonably priced. For lunch I think their sushi is delicious. I'm a Wegmans fan for life. |

Check out some of their recipes on the web site - they typically call for wegmans brand ingredients, like "food you feel good about." I love this salad recipe (be sure to follow it closely for the right balance of flavors):

| I went to Wegman's for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was sorely disappointed. The layout in the Germantown or Gaithersburg store (in that confusing border between the two) was very odd, and people kept running into me with their carts. It was as if we needed a traffic cop. But I did not notice prices being particularly good and then the quality of items did not seem so special either. I kept thinking I was missing something but it was a big disappointment and I don't see any reason why I would go back. |
| I don't like Wegmans either. I don't get it. the store is very large and overwhelming. their sliced bread selection was terrible and I thought prices for meat/fish were terrible. I prefer whole foods and the prices on many items are better anyway. |

I would not go out of my way to shop at Wegmans, but stop by when I am in the area.
I really like their seasonal produce. They have a huge variety of prepared foods, and my family loves their Marco Polo bread. The cheese selection is on a par with Whole Foods. They also have a better than average variety of international groceries - European, Hispanic and Asian. |
| Ethnic foods, GF foods, WINE |
| great knishes |
| Love wegmans but don't get why you need suggestions on what to buy. It's a grocery store... |
|
Wegmans boxed macaroni and cheese is the only store brand alternative to Kraft I've tried that the kids don't complain about.
I get my English food there: Hobnobs, Jammie Dodgers, Heinz Beans, looseleaf Yorkshire Gold, etc. The bagels are good and I always get a loaf of organic sourdough bread. My husband loves the St Peter's Brewery Ale and Cream Stout they sell. |
| They have a good variety of gluten free foods, we like many of their prepared $10 meals, and a good food court. Also decent kosher section and seafood. |
The question isn't, "what's available at the grocery store? Do they have milk? Fruit? Bread?" it's, "what are some special items at Wegmans that I can only get at Wegmans?" It's really huge, so there's a lot more choice under one roof than at any other one grocer in the area. I still find it underwhelming, but I know people who love Wegmans really love Wegmans. It's like a religion. |
| Yes, Wegman's is terrible. People do run into you with their carts, and it is so crowded on the weekends, you can barely move. Yuck. I have been twice, and never been back. I'd rather go to Trader Joe's. People still bump into you with their shopping carts, but at least it's smaller and doesn't take so long to wind your way through. |
| If you like tea, check out 'Tea Land'. Sooo many selections that my aunt and I call it tea land. Enjoy! |
I don't go on weekends and if I do, it is prior to 8AM. I'm a budget conscious shopper and feed my family of 4 on $125/week. We eat ALL MEALS from home 6 days a week. So I'm making 72 meals a week on that budget. I get organic Milk, eggs, and a few other things. Wegmans is the only grocery store I can budget shop and eat fresh. I have no suggestions on what to buy, but I do like their fresh produce. I get my fresh herbs from the Korean grocery. |
