| we are starting college process and have heard that some schools like to have a mix of studentsf from private/ public high schools. Anyone know if DC Charter school students are considered to check the DC public school box? maybe I'm not phrasing the question correctly but any feedback would be appreciated. thanks. |
I would think you check public school, as Charters are public schools and not private schools. |
| Yes, charters are public - DCPCS. Back in the mix! |
| yes, of course they are public, but have anecdotally heard about "cache" of Wilson graduates getting into good schools as having "survived." Didn't know if same "cache" applied to well-regarded charters, but may be too hard to know...... |
| That Wilson cache -- I've heard of it before - is the most classist/racist thing. Some Wilson students write about surviving their urban high school, which isn't exactly in a bad neighborhood, in their essays. Well, many of them go home to some pretty nice houses (Chevy Chase, DC) and travel domestically/internationally and have second homes (beach, mountain) and live a very good life. Not following the survival theme. |
Do you think this is really happening or is just a rumor? It doesn't sound real to me. Admissions officers are familiar with the schools in their regions and are almost certainly familiar with Wilson. |
| It's "cachet" not "cache". Please. |
