Midwife practice that delivers at Fairfax?

Anonymous
Does anyone know a midwife practice that delivers at Fairfax? I really want to deliver at Fairfax, for convenience and NICU reasons - but I also understand that the c-section rate there is high. I also do not feel comfortable that my OB practice (NOVA OBGYN) isn't likely to support me in my plans for a natural childbirth. If anyone know of a midwife practice that delivers at Fairfax, I'd REALLY appreciate it!

I'm not aware of any. Maybe this list will be helpful:

I don't know of any midwives at Fairfax, but I do at Virginia Hospital Center - Karen King - I'm not sure the practice she's associated with - you'll have to google her. She's come with great recommendations. I'm delivering at VHC and wanting to go natural. Our approach is going to be to stay home and labor as long as possible, probably until the contractions are just a couple minutes apart and 60 seconds long. By that time, we are hoping the "fight" to go natural will be a little easier. We've been taking Bradley method classes, so feel quite prepared. You could use that same approach for Fairfax, however, I heard that Fairfax is the worst hospital in the area to go natural. You may want to consider VHC.

OP--I just saw your post after I sent mine about NO OB. I am very early on in my pregnancy but really want to start thinking about how I want my birth. I have only gone to NO OB once and haven't discussed their philosophy. Can you tell me what the Drs. have said and why they don't seem to support natural? I really appreciate it.

Good luck with your search.
