Migraines during 2ww

Anonymous
Had anyone had a migraine during their 2ww and still had a positive result? I'm not only in pretty severe pain (and tylenol does nothing unfortunately), but I'm so afraid that this will affect my potential pregnancy. Any tips on how to ease the pain? I've tried about everything....ice, heat, massage.

Thanks in advance!

When I got a migraine while pregnant my OB told me to take 600-800 mg of Motrin--better than Tylenol and safe. I can't speak to a migraine during the 2ww, but I can tell you that migraines are strongly associated with shifting hormones, so if you are NOT prone to premenstrual migraines, it could be a good sign. I have heard of some women who only get migraines when pregnant....

Good luck to you.

OP here...thanks for your reply. I do, unfortunately, get migraines close to my period, although since I've started fertility treatments, they usually come a few days after the trigger shot, which for me was on the 17th. (and no migraine) If I was unmediated, I would probably be on track to get my period in a day or so, but I'm taking progesterone and estrogen so I don't think thats what my body is doing....at least not yet. I guess time will tell....

Is Motrin ibuprofen? From what I've read, ibuprofen is strongly cautioned/prohibited during (especially early) pregnancy.

Yes, I had them during my first IUI cycle, both while I was taking Clomid and during my 2ww. My nurse said sorry, this happens, just take some tylenol, and take extra strength if that didn't work. My next cycle, I was on a lower dose of Clomid and only had a headache once. I'm almost looking forward to IVF so I don't have to take that horrible drug again!

Motrin is ibuprofen and as with any med check with your OB, but my OB (one of the top in the area) told me it was fine. My understanding is that it is actually worse to take late in pregnancy...

I heard simialr things to the PP. I broke a bone during a 2WW and at the ER I told them that I was trying to get pregnant and that my period was just a few days away and I didn't want to take anything that could potentionally be dangerous -- they told me ibuprofren was fine until the 3rd trimester (not sure I would test this unless really necessary, but migranes or broken bones are pretty hard to get through without some pain relief) and they even said vicodin (sp?) was fine early one.
