I know decisions about childcare weighed heavy on my mind during pregnancy and maternity leave. We considered many options and sat on many wait lists before ending up with our nanny and then later transitioning into a share. So, therefore I hope my post is relevent to your discussion forum:
We live in Bluemont, approximately 2 blocks from the Ballston Metro and are looking for a new share family starting in July (some flexibility) so if you are expecting, this may work for you . . . We are losing our wonderful share family of the last two years because they are expecting a second and that mom will be staying home. Our nanny w/ 20 plus years experience has been with our 3 year old son since he was 10 weeks old and our 6 month old daughter since birth. My son goes to Montessori preschool (Chesterbrook) M-F, until noon. During this time our nanny takes the kids at home to classes, parks, etc. She drives our minivan and is very safe. She loves the kids like her own and I can't say enough good things about her. Her hours are 8am-6pm, M-F. Our house is roomy and babyproofed (as much as that is possible) and your child would have his/her own room for naps. Our nanny is great at following instructions, sleep training, potty training, etc. and will even make home made baby food. We have two very gentle older indoor cats.
