We belong to Sport&Health and I just called to inquire about childcare for my 6yo while I am working out. (This was the Reston location, if it matters.) They told me that it is $10/child if DD is not on the membership with us. Which she isn't.
Is this normal? I always thought DD could go in there for free if we were members, but clearly I am mistaken. Is this the norm for childcare at gyms in the DC/M/V area? Just trying to get a feel. Thanks. |
| I pay for childcare at Washington Sports Club. My kids cannot be members. How is it that your child could be a 'member'? |
I guess kids can be members, b/c at the gym, they also have a pool (at the Tysons location) where they have family swimming hours, etc.? But yeah, it's not like they can go on the exercise machines or anything??? |
| $10 per visit? If so, that is high. I paid $25 per month for unlimited visits at my gym, for 2 kids. Or $2 per visit. |
| Child care is $4/hr at my gym. I think that's quite reasonable. |
OK, thanks. Yeah, I am trying to get a feel for rates, rules, etc. It's good to know that this rate seems high. Thank you. |
Yeah, that seems more reasonable than $10/hr. Thanks. |
| Lifetime fitness does not charge me per use. Not sure if my kids are on my membership. |
| I pay per kid at equniox |
| What a terrible job that would be. Childcare worker at a gym. Ever changing rotation of strange children. Ugh. |
| It is basically just a semi-supervised lord of the flies like free for all. |
| I belong to 24 hour fitness and they charge $5/visit or $25/month. $10/hr is high. how much is their family membership? |
I did it at a tennis club. We had a lot if fun, and I knew all the regulars. |
| Golds Gym in Sully Plaza is free but there is a 2 hour max |
It's actually a great side job. I work at a childcare center and do this on the weekends. Those "strange kids" are actually regulars on the weekend. Familiar face for child and worker. To answer OP's question, it's 2 dollars. |
