My first labor was very long--40 plus hours from water breaking to delivery. Obviously, my second labor is not likely to be as long. But, still, I am wondering what the norm is in terms of second labors. Also, anyone out there have to be induced for their first but had a normal progression (ie no pitocin) with their second. |
My first labor was 15 hours long (incl. 4 hours pushing) and my second was 3 hours long with 6 minutes of pushing. I wasn't induced for either labor because my water broke spontaneously and I dilated quickly on my own. I had an epidural at 7 cm with the first one and had no medication with the second one. I know there are no guarantees that the second labor will go quicker, but it seems to me that in most cases they do go much faster and easier. Good luck to you! |
First labor: 12 hours, incl. 3 hours of pushing
Second labor: 8 hours, only 3 minutes of pushing! Both times induced, both times with epidurals. HTH. GOod luck! |
First labor 4 hrs w epidural
2nd labor 45 min w no drugs hoping that #3 is not in the car |
