Has anyone applied? Its hard to tell what it will actually do, if anything. Curious to see how it goes.

Well, I received an email that they extended the application deadline despite being "thrilled" by the response they received. They are apparently only looking for a max of 24 parents, so kinda strange to extend the deadline if they are indeed happy about the response.
The response was probably not "representative."
The message read, "We are thrilled with the volume of applications we have received from all parts of the District"
That doesn't mean that it was "representative."
single moms who haven't learned about it yet, etc.?
they were thrilled to have received 5 responses from east of River and 500 from West of Park.

I applied. My network was "DCUM".
|
should have written "the infamous DCUM"
I applied. Got the email yesterday about how they were thrilled with the response but were extending deadline - and they attached versions of the application in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, French, and some other language. So yeah, pretty clear they have all the higher-SES people they want and are looking for some diversity.
I applied, too. Trying to represent special ed kids.
Anyone heard who was selected for the Parents Cabinet?
They are scrutinizing the list...with a CSI caliber. You know they have to ensure that it represents the demographics and make sure everyone is not just a tax-payer but a registered voter. You can't have a school population of one race and a cabinet of another race...who does that?
|
Sadly, Henderson was unable to include me on this year's cabinet.

Sorry Jeff. I'm the person who posted they picked me. Based on my sample size of 1, I think they wanted parents who were active, but not too active. I'll have to represent DCUM for you.
