What is your ES age DC's schedule, besides going to school? -
1) Before school 2) After school 3) Weekends? My DC does - 1) Musical instrument - after school - Monday ( At home - Tutor) 2) Martial Arts - after school - Tuesday, Thursday 3) Painting - after school - Wednesday (AT home - Tutor) 4) Nothing on Friday 5) Math-English tutoring - Saturday 6) Swimming - Saturday. 7) Nothing on Sunday DC enjoys most of these activities, and haven't asked me to ease up. It is I who finds it exhausting (because my other kid in on a different schedule, and different school) - because I am always running around. Is this somewhat like what your kids are doing? |
Monday: Track, OT
Tuesday: Art Wednesday: Music lesson, OT, Basketball Thursday: Track, Scouts Friday: Basketball Saturday: Robotics club Sunday: Choir, Lacrosse Playdates often on weekends DC likes being busy with lots of kids. I have noticed over the past year DC has begun narrowing in on interests and there are some activities DC is nearing the end of participating in, like choir. One of DC's good friends has no regular activities. Most of DC's friends have a less intense schedule, although most of them are also specializing in something whereas DC is still dabbling. |
Monday, swimming
Tuesday, basketball afterschool Wednesday, skating Saturday, piano, skating Sunday, swimming DS has no complaining about these activities, but DH does ![]() Our younger DS is not taking any activities yet. |
5th grade DD.
7am - leaves for school 6pm - picked up from school Saturday mornings - volunteers with me Saturday afternoons - ice skating lesson, then free skate time That's it. |
OP, why on earth are you exhausted?! You go TWO places THREE times each week besides school! Take some iron supplements if this is exhausting you. |
If this active schedule isn't working for you, then find ways to cut back; for the at-home tutors, can your other child also join the lesson to minimizing the running around? Can you switch an after-school activity to the weekend? Can you cut one, maybe two activities, and/ or can you do a carpool with other parents so you don't have to drive every time? I think, regardless of what other's schedules are, you have to do what works best for your whole family. |
