Satellite parking at BWI

Anonymous
My family and I are flying out of BWI on Friday for a ten-day trip. We plan to have DH drop me, the two kids, the two cars seats, and the luggage at our terminal (SW) and then go park in a satellite lot and take a shuttle back to our terminal. Our flight departs at 2:00 pm this Friday. What time should he drop us at the terminal and which long-term or off-site parking lot should he use? Thanks!

You can't check in until he is back there with you. The shuttles run pretty often in the remote lots (less often if you plan to park at the rail station). I'd include an extra 1/2 hour for him to drop you off, park the car and shuttle back. In the meantime, you can stand in line at check-in (but he'll need to be with you if he is checking a bag). Add 40 minutes if you are the nervous type.

Drop off time will depend on whether you are flying domestic or international. BWI is usually pretty decent with security and it's unusual to have really long lines.

Thanks. We're flying domestic, but checking bags. So I assume we'll all need to check in together. I do get nervous about flights and being late. If our flight departs at 2, what time should he drop us off? Twelve?

Airport fast park is faster than the BWI airport satellite parking, because they pick you up from your care within 3 minutes in my experience. When we did the airport satellite the bus was every 15 minutes, and we had to walk to the stop, which took about 10 min

I think 2 hours early should be fine.

Just wanted to say that the plan to drop you and the kids off is great. I only have one toddler, and it never occurred to me to have DH to do this, but it would make life easier.

This has not been my experience the past few times I've been there.

--Print out your boarding passes online. At the very least you should then be able to check in bags for yourself + kids.

--Definitely divide and conquer by having one of you drop bags + one parent plus kids (or all kids - 1 depending on carseat situation).

--Can you use curbside checkin at BWI?

--I like Pre-Flight parking for the same reason that 21:54 likes FastPark. BWI satellite parking is very slow and annoying.

Second the recommendation for Airport Fast Park.

I'd plan on arriving at noon.

Definitely do the express lot. Only $2 more a day than economy but so much easier.

Get to the lot by 12 and you will be at the airport by 12:10.

Thanks everyone. Now I have to pray our flight is on time and not detailed due to snow. I'm traveling with a baby, a preschooler, and we're going to Florida!

If you can don't list any luggage in your DHs name. Then you can check all the luggage in without him there. And if you check in on line you can just have him meet you in the security line. I would allow extra time for security - I've had some longish waits in Baltimore. 12 is probably fine for all of that.

23:44, good idea, thanks. Our printer is broken so we can't print boarding passes, but we can probably check in. It would be great to be able to get rid of the luggage and car seats while he's parking the car.
