Where can I go to get a free credit report on myself -- fast!

I looked on line, but it is overwhelming. I can't tell what is a scam and what is for real. I looked at the Equifax site and they want to sell me a product that will check all three agencies at once. I just want a free report to see if any of my ex's bills are still showing up on my account. I have tried to cancel everything I can think of and just found out about a new card he had opened with my name on the account. Experian sent me to annualcreditreport.com -- but I don't want to enter my SSN into something that isn't legit!
