It could be the dad didn't walk her down the isle because he did not agree with the charade. Maybe he loves her and wants to support her by being there, but he needed to make a show of defiance.

I come from a nutty family with a nutty sister. I won't cut off from her, but I won't do things that play into her lies. If extended family ever figured out her lies, they would see I was giving signals and not reinforcing. She hasn't done anything illegal and as accomplished as she seems I suspect the lies are mental illness so I don't want to throw her over the edge.

You would think she would just say that then? "My parents were busy with their demanding careers and I spent the day to day with my Spanish nanny. Through her and my family's love of Spain, I fell in love with the way of life and think of it as my second home."

Oh I definitely would assume she was raised by nannies. There is no way her parents became that accomplished without hired help. Families are really strange about things like nannies. She may be afraid to alienate her parents by saying she was raised by loving Spanish speaking nannies. Wouldn't justify her lies, but several friends of mine lost favorite nannies because they parents got jealous of the relationship.

My cousin is a pathological liar and I have been caught up in her lies many many times. A mutual friend of ours once mentioned that she didn’t realize we were British, she said oh, your cousin mentioned that your grandparents immigrated from England, and she went on saying how my cousin told her our grandparents had British accents and mannerisms. I set her straight and told her no, our great great grandparents immigrated from England in the 1800s. She lies constantly about everything, even minor things, she has led a tumultuous life as a result.

She also posted a screenshot on her IG stories a couple days ago of supportive texts that her brother sent her (in Spanish, interestingly) but radio silence from her parents (publicly at least) which makes me think that maybe her parents DON’T support her and her choices.

There is no “chosen” Spanish family for Christ’s sake. The “chosen” family is the Baldwin family, lucky ducks.

Can you link the study? That gibes with my experience so I avoid the meditation etc. I do yoga and running and call it a day.

The cucumber video clip on the Today show is where she looks like she's channeling a scene from Spanglish. Her appearance is very similar to the Spanglish star.

This “scandal” is ridiculous. Sure, Hilaria’s a faker. Why in the world should anyone give AF??? Yes, not cool to be a fake and a phony, but isn’t that all of the public personas these days? Hilaria was/is hardly a person of any consequence.

I wish this kind of investigative rigor was applied to Ivanka. Or Melania. Or Kim Guilfoyle. These women are the ultimate phonies ....

Curious what everyone thinks the next steps will be to try to save their reputation?

Some form of rehab? Radio silence?

If you've ever looked into the connection between dopamine and social media, she's going to have some major issues going cold turkey.
