Looking for a vacation place

| We are looking for a vacation place somewhere within a 3hr drive of Metro DC. We have decided against a beach place and are more looking for a place with a bit of space near hiking, maybe near or on a river for tubing/floating or rafting, maybe if we are super lucky near a lake, etc. We are thinking somewhere in Virginia or WV near a small town of some sort. Anyone have a favorite area or town to recommend? We are ideally looking for 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, but could go smaller for the right area. |

| I haven't been there, but I've heard lots of good things about Deep Creek Lake. Hope this helps a little. |

| Rocky Gap State Park added a hotel/resort complex--it might be closer than Deep Creek Lake. Tr to visit before they get slot machines! |
