| I haven't played for years, but I'm not bad (grew up playing soccer/football) and I'd like to join a team in DC this Spring (either co-ed or all women) so that I can get some exercise but also have some fun and meet people. How do I go about finding a team that needs players? I looked up some of the DC leagues but I'm clueless re the next step - do I email team managers? Any tips/ideas welcome. |
| Check metro sports league website and then send them email saying you are a single person looking to join a team. You should not have a problem since at least on the coed teams they are always looking for women. One caution, most people in that league are very young - college age or mid twenties. |
| Don't go to Metro. Go to WAWSL. All women teams. Www.wawsl.org. Sign up as a new player and the coordinator will match you with a team to match your skill and fitness level. I play in both leagues but inky went to metro after getting the kinks out in wawsl. |

Check out Fairfax Womens soccer league. They have recreational and competitive teams. Co ed, no coed. Indoor and outdoor. Masters and "young" players.
I did it for years, but couldn't commit after baby #3 came along. The players on my particular team were a mix of post-college women and various-aged moms. No practices just games in the evening. |
