For those who got into CAP, what what does their student profile look like?

I am not the poster whose child did not get into CAP. Just beginning to expore CAP or a few years down the line for my humanities-oriented kid. IF your kid got into CAP, or if you know kids who did, did they have straight A's? Is there a test to get it? Did you have to show writing samples? Do they look at MSA scores?

I don't know what they can or do look at in a student's records, but you are asked to provide last year's report card and a couple of recommendation letters/questionaires from past teachers, along with your application. There is a test that includes an essay portion.

The odds are tougher for girls than boys, and I say that as a parent of a boy in CAP. There's just a lot more girl applicants.

Eastern MS magnet student, A/B average, good writer, I suspect DC's a really good test taker

I think grades are not the most important thing. I believe -- just my supposition -- that all the magnets look at test scores first, as a cutoff, and the the other factors.

It's half test/half grades.
