Need an OB recommendation for Virginia Hospital Center to work with high risk

Anonymous
I am trying to find an OB doc that can serve as my regular OB and work with Dr. McLaren for my high risk issues.

I am currently being seen at Georgetown but they have restructured their high risk practice and it is not working. the reguglar ob docs now see the high risk patients but can't ansewr questions. My biggest concern is this will be my 4th c-section. We would like to have more children if it is safe. The regular OB docs at G-town have a policy not to do that regardless of the patient. They won't even discuss it with me. This is in complete contrast to Dr. Collela (the meternal fetal dr that delivered our other kids) his view was take each baby one at a time, examine my carefully, and make a determination if it was safe to have another.

If anyone can reccomend a doctor that might be open to this I would be very grateful.

In case it matters I a 19 weeks along.
Thanks

I am a patient of Dr Jeffrey Elliott and Dr. Susanne Lashgari at VHC and they work with Dr McLaren. I am 32wks pg with baby #2 and have not been high-risk, but I have seen Dr McLaren a few times for ultrasounds and diagnosis of pre-term labor. They are really great - especially Dr Elliott. I really love him!

Take a look at Healthcare for Women http://www.healthcareforwomenpc.com/. Bios for each of the OBs are on the site. I see Dr. Porter and she's wonderful.

I wouldn't go anywhere near there if I were high risk. I would stay with Georgetown and Dr. Collea who is the best. If you do have a preemie VHC is NOT the place to have it! Georgetown is. Why cant they work in tandem with Dr. Collea like my people? (Dr. Reiter and Hill)

Not the OP but why do you say that about VHC? They have an excellent NICU.

OP here

I've switched to Dr. Elliot and Dr. Lashgari and am very happy with their care as well as the care I am recieving from Dr. McLaren.

To follow up on the Georgetown issues. Even one of Dr. Collea's nurses said I was better off switching locations until Georgetown got their act together. The high risk doctors, like Dr. Collea, no longer have a hands on relationship with the patients and as a patient you have to go through a primary ob to get your information.

Can you still deliver with Dr. Collea or his he no longer doing c sections? He has delivered my three by c section as well. Would love to have him do the 4th.

I am not high risk. But can tell you that Dr. Elliott and Dr. Lashgari practice is AWESOME. If you want extra special care this is the place to get it.
They work with Dr. McClaren and have a great working relationship between their offices. Elliott and Lashgari are wonderful doctors and take personal
care of all their patients. It amazes me how personal they make you feel. They really do care and take good care of their patients, mommy and babies.

For the 14:12 poster, as well as anyone else concerned:
Dr. Collea is no longer doing ANY deliveries. I begged him to deliver this baby and he has been taken off of the service. It is just so sad because he is a fabulous doctor and we loved him. On the bright side of things Dr. Collea did such a great job at my last 2 c-sections that I'm in good shape for this delivery.

Dr. Piness is at VHC and works with MacLaren -- office is right next door.
