| My son is a rising kindergartner at Charles Barrett elementary next year. I called to ask to schedule a tour / meet the principal and they told me they don't offer tours - just the open house in March and I can see the school then. I was under the impression I could tour the school individually or with a smaller group - does anyone know? Thanks so much. |
It is at the Principal's discretion. Some will meet individually with famlies, others do only the open house. Most have a spring fair of some sort, wich it another way to look around at the school. Our spring fair us always the weekend after the Kindergarten orientation night |
| DS will go to Freedom Hill ES and we also don't have any tours, just a K orientation in March. Public schools don't usually offer tours. |
//spinoff// Freedom Hill will also have several kindergarten play dates before the start of school in the fall. Make sure you check the school's PTA website for dates/times. The office staff should also know more about them. My kids are older, so I'm not sure when they will be scheduled but they are a lot of fun for the kids to get to know their classmates, and for parents to meet one another as well. My daughter still hangs out 5 years later with the kids she met at one of the kindergarten play dates! //end spinoff// |

OP, everyone is working or teaching during the day.
Just go to the open house like everyone else. You don't need a personalized tour. |
| In the summer before we started K I called the office during their open hours and one of the assistants let me and DC come in during time they didn't have meetings, and she took us around. It was helpful to DC since he had some issues with adapting to change, and seeing the school at his pace gave him a lot of comfort. I don't know that they have anything organized per se, but if you call and ask you may get lucky. |
| OP, you could also go to the school's webpage to see what activities they have there. Our school as a "Fun Fair" in March and people are in/out all day. You won't get a tour or see what school is like in session. But, you can get a sense for the facility. You'll have to pay the entry fee (a couple of dollars). Bring your DC. We did so as to prep her for K. We also did all of the summer meet-n-greets. It helps. |
| Why do you want a tour outside of the orientation? What is your goal? |
