I need an insurance appraisal for a pair of large pearl and gold earrings. How much should it cost, and any recommendations of appraisers in the DC area? |
Do you know who the jeweler was?
I took a watch to a dealer of that particular brand over in Tyson's Corner that does appraisals and I want to say the cost was fairly nominal, maybe under $150? I needed it for insurance purposes. For what it's worth, the jeweler was Liljenquist & Beckstead, I was happy with them, they were also able to replace the band for me which had a lifetime warranty. I've been meaning to get back over there as I need a new appraisal for my engagement ring as we switched insurances and the previous one is 9 years old. |
1-300.
Limons in Bethesda. |
I took mine to Zales and it was $60 |
If you want a very detailed, careful appraisal with information re the jewelry, you could go to Martin Fuller in Tysons. It will be a bit more expensive than the jewelry stores, but I thought it was worthwhile.
Re appraisals -- some appraisers may give you an inflated valuation thinking it's a vanity thing, but you want an accurate appraisal # so you don't overpay on insurance. http://martinfullerappraisals.com/ |
