| I think schools with a special curriclum focus such as Montessori, reggio or immersion should be something that families have to opt in/lottery for. |
Quit being so rational pp. It's so much more fun to get flustered and make this about racism or, elitism, depending on what side you're on. SWS can't win in this fight so there's no reason for them to weigh-in, besides per the pps, it's a dead horse anyway. The way I see it, neighbors have two choices if they don't lottery in (many of whom do and will continue to do so because of the unified lottery rankings): 1. Bitch and moan that something that never belonged to them is hurting their feelings and argue that they have more of a right than everyone else in the city, because...parking? "Ugh, I bought a house across the street from A SCHOOL and there are like, KIDS, and kid-related shit out there now!" Or 2. Go to the neighborhood school that's 3 blocks away, gets great scores, and has a brand new principal who is apparently open to neighborhood input. Which one is more productive? |
