Because I don’t think they will or they can.

The majority of federal spending goes to things like Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Defense, and interest on the debt. We have a huge debt and a huge deficit. All the other stuff is peanuts compared to the things listed above. So the “good” that more taxes represents would be reducing the deficit and, if taxed enough, reducing the debt. The only other long term choice is to cut the spending things listed above. Which do you want?

Cut foreign spending

Which is around 1% of the federal budget. You've got to tackle the big expenses if you want to make a dent.

+1. If the filibuster is still in effect (even with a D trifecta), this would only happen if there are more than 65 Dem senators, which has zero chance of happening anytime soon. Expect more continuing resolutions for the foreseeable future, regardless of who wins

My finra advisor has told me to keep my 2025 IRA contribution in a savings account until the 2025 budget is voted on for this reason. They tried to ram this through in Secure 2.0 but struck it down to get the bill through. Democrats will keep stuffing it in until it passes. The idea is to eliminate retirement accounts that are not employer sponsored for Millennials and below.

This is not true.

1000% I agree, I'm also against it. I think it's a terrible plan.

you know reduce spending is never happening. Last time we cut budget was way back in 2012 during Obama-Ryan term.
