You sound jealous.

Not at all. I'm a parent whose adult kids were raised to be responsible, honest, caring, and hard-working adults.

What a good little sheep you raised.

And I bet your kid is wearing a mask outdoors at protest harassing and threatening people while being coddled in the bosom of a progressive bubble.

Really brave.

This country was founded on revolution and protests. I’m sure you’ve heard of free speech and the right to assemble, etc. You’re just mad because these students are bringing awareness to an issue that has been swept under the rug for far too long.

Free speech does not include threatening and intimidating other students simply because they are Jewish. Nor does it mean choosing which laws you decide to follow as part of your protest. You cannot block public streets, camp out where ever the hell you want, and disturb the peace and call it "free speech."
Other people have rights too. They seem not to recognize this fact.

Other people are agitators who rage filled that they are largely ignored at these peaceful protests.

Why are the protesters hiding behind masks?

So you can’t hunt them down.

Anti semitism should not include being able to stand up for Palestine/Gaza. I really feel strongly that Jews who keep putting down these protesters are in the wrong. It's not about whether the protesters are right but that they should be allowed to express their sentiments without being attacked publicly. People don't understand that universities have always been the battlefront of intense political dialogue - education is where ideas and thoughts are expressed and absorbed. Questioning and debate, considerations and strong sentiments are the way the young learn. To take away the rights of these kids is basically censorship.

NP. I saw a video tonight where the “kids” you are defending were screaming “Go back to Poland” at Jewish students. Something like 96% of Polish Jews were killed by the Nazis. Is this the side and behavior you are defending?

Except they are not Columbia students, they are confirmed agitators.

Al Jazeera news has video of students holding signs that Palestine will be free by any means necessary. Violence is being advocated for.

Jews are claiming to be scared to death of "WORDS" while Palestinian women and children are actually getting slaughtered by a Jewish ethono state. Y'all are full of jokes.

This absurd. This isn’t just a bunch of misguided students peacefully protesting what they view as the Israeli government overstepping their rights to self defense, this is radicals supporting a recognized international terrorist organization and actively calling for genocide and the dissolution of the Israeli State, often specifically targeting Jewish students, staff, and passers who have zero connection to the Israeli government, and denying Israel any right to defend their nation following 10/7.

Criticizing Israel is perfectly fine. Israel has, in the past, made decisions I do not agree with, but that is different then glorifying Hamas and denying Israel the right to measured self defense.

How do you “correctly” criticize Israel? Posting on anonymous boards? Telling your friends? Putting a Canva pdf on IG?

DP.

You criticize the government and/or the military response, but you don’t call for its annexation or elimination.

You don’t celebrate or support acts of terror against Israel.

You refrain from blood libels against Jews.

Pretty easy. I manage it all the time.

But people have gathered in person at rallies to do this and have been criticized. So, how do you manage to do this?

Be clear and unambiguous as to what you’re calling for.

Protesters have done a horrible job at that, perhaps because they don’t have a unified message.

My sense is that it breaks down something like this:

50% favor peace/ceasefire/Palestinian statehood and the existence of Israel.

50% favor the elimination of Israel, half via a “one state” solution (whether Israel consents or not) and half via any means necessary, including terror and violence.

So you have made up data based on??? Attending a rally? Or just being an armchair critic?

Exactly the point—protesters don’t have a clearly defined message or unified goal, so it’s impossible to be certain.

The guess above is based on reading dozens of statements by and interviews with university activists, as well as watching speeches at many of the protests.

What’s your guess?

This woman is a loser. She got no attention yet her pathetic husband posted the video and now looks like a fool. Where's the threat to Jews? Is it coming from the Jews protesting?

silliness

these are just bored, self-hating rich kids who've never been anywhere near any of the stuff they've appointed themselves to judge

wonder what the average household income is of the kids leading these protests

+1

Secular lifestyle + affluence = boredom and made-up problems

What if this was reversed? Would you still say it was a made up problem if the Palestinians had killed 35K Jews, mostly women and children, in six months after the Jews attacked Palestine in a targeted massacre and took hostages? Curious. Would we really say it was okay for Palestinians to respond in this way?

Well it didn’t happen that way didu it, because the Jews are not terrorists seeking extermination of the Gazans.

So it’s a moot point.

Oh, it’s moot. Well keep on killing then, amirite? Not a problem as you said earlier.

If they keep supporting terrorists who want to take us all back to the Middle Ages, we have no choice

Save us all from MAGAts.

Why are the protesters hiding behind masks?

Because extreme thugs like Ackerman are doxxing them and going after their families. Makes perfect sense to me. I’m not one to protest but if I was there I would wear a mask.

These students are clearly a different generation from their grandparents and parents. I wonder what international policies will be like in the US in 15-20 years. The Ivy universities educate our future leaders. We are getting a glimpse of what lies ahead

I wonder if these kids realize on 10/7 32 American were killed. The people they are protesting for have no love for them.

You will get nowhere if you insist on equating Hamas with the Palestinian people. If you cannot acknowledge the atrocities on both sides, you are a simpleton and should be ignored

Similar to anonymous letters and threats. Very cowardly.

The Palestinian people voted them an and are protecting them. They have done nothing to get rid of them.

Palestinians were polled in 2013 and 76% of them thought of the US as an enemy https://www.algemeiner.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/pew-enemy.jpg.

When you lose the Universities and colleges you have lost the war.

You mean the universities that charge hundreds of thousands of dollars for a crap education? University enrollment is going down because people are realizing it’s a joke and a waste of money.

You don't live in reality. Getting into universities is as competitive as it's ever been.

The problem with antisemitism right now is not a liberal problem or a college problem as much as you RWNJs (the original anti-Semites) want to say it is for your own political hackjob. Antisemitism right now is an America problem.

And it makes me so sad that we as a country are so stupid. I am against what the Israeli government is doing right now but I am also very much against taking that out on random Jewish people, American or otherwise. It makes no sense and it's wrong.

You disagree with that? For over 75 years the US and Israel have been killing Palestinians and stealing their land. Bet that number is higher today though Americans are starting to see the real problem/enemy.

Looks like mainstream America is sick of your Middle Eastern wars. Look at Candance Owens, Tucker Carlson. They are all sick of your wars.

Perhaps. But mainstream America always sides with Israel over Hamas. You won’t find a single “we support Palestine” flags in middle America, but you see “we support Israel” flags everywhere.

There is nothing mainstream America despises more than coddled, privileged rich kids “protesting” something which they know nothing about.

I live in the middle of the country - in Wisconsin (not Madison ) there are far fewer "we support Israel" signs than in Potomac MD (where I'm from), you know that 100,000 + "mainstream, middle Americans" showed up in crappy rainy/sleety weather to do a protest vote against Biden? The medieval methods of siege warfare plus the racist garbage coming out of Israeli government minister's mouths coupled with the Arab and refugee population in middle America means middle America looks different than what you imagine.

I’m from Wisconsin. Sounds like you live in a blue ‘burb.

have you looked at the new maps? Pretty much anything touching water is blue/purple and we've a lot of lakes. Fox valley isn't exactly a bastion of liberalism.

Not be in uniform that is for sure. Sitting is not brave.

why should they die? for a foreign, nation? the foreign nation should die before our kids die. and honestly I feel the same about Russia and Ukraine- the EU is frightened? they can raise tuition at heir universities and go bankrupt when they get cancer just like we do and pay in tax to fight off Russia. Thats what we do- we dont have nice things so that the world is safe- the world can start paying in blood and treasure and we can have cheaper healthcare and bridges that dont fall down and youth that dont start out life saddled with debt. Americans work really hard, we deserve nice things, the French not so much.
