Hmm, I feel sorry for people who never have anywhere to go. I don’t commute but I do drive to places and I’d rather spend that time in a nice car. But you do you.

Are you aware that there are other ways to get places than driving? Even when I drive instead of walk, everything is within a few minutes so there’s no point in buying some fussy car that may get scratches while street parked. I mean I don’t even have a garage and my family only has 1 car, but we still manage to go many places.

I’m sorry for people who have built their lives around needing a nice car because they spend so much time in it.

But what are you on about with this "I can't understand why people spend so much time in cars" stuff? this is DCUM -- many of us, if not most of us, have horrible, long commutes to and from work on the likes of the beltway or 66. If you had to drive to work, rather than just "school pickup," then perhaps you would understand the allure of luxury vehicles. I don't drive one -- I have a Subaru that is now 7 years old (DH is even worse, he's driving a Chevy Blazer that is like 17 years old now) -- but I'm not begrudging anyone who has to spend two+ hours per day in their car a Lexus or whatever.

So ... let me guess, you aren't in the DC area but are randomly hanging out on this forum? Because I can't imagine anyone here saying they "can't understand why people spend so much time in cars."

But why don’t these “oh I’m sorry you’re just too poor to have experienced the joys of a luxury vehicle” posters just buy a house in a better neighborhood instead of spending 2+ hours per day in a car?

Like isn’t your time worth more than that? They could reallocate all that luxury car money and maintenance and gas to live somewhere better.

Sounds like you and your kids have no hobbies, friends or social life. Nothing luxe about that, sounds quite sad tbh.
