Republican Congressman-elect is a total charlatan with an entirely fake résumé

I still don't understand how all of this is coming out now but not during the election. Why did people start doing research after he was elected and not before?

Read the thread. The “liberal New York Times” wanted to run of feature on the “dynamic new congressman” from Long Island. They had no interest before the election. A tiny local North Shore paper had some of it, but no one noticed or paid attention.

I think people got wowed by someone who fits the "diversity and inclusion" but still conservative persona.

The guy is gay.
He claimed to be Jew-ish.
His family is from S. America.

It's like a Rs wet dream of diversity rolled into one. Trans would be too far for the right.

IMO, NYT wanted to showcase him as this new shiny toy. Shoddy work. I expect this from Fox News, but not NYT.

Yes people paid attention but not enough. Watching that crook stand and take that speaker vote is so frustrating and depressing.

Also notable that the New York Post also completely missed it.

He should resign. He should feel better if he does that.

Let it go. Let him serve his constituents and see how he does. This country was built and run by men with worse stories.

The Japanese have a saying: a man is whatever room he is in. George Santos is now in Congress.

Newsday is the local paper for Long Island.

Yes, it’s been well documented here that they also missed it.

He played his constituents. They are done with him.

He showed up sporting a Cartier Santos wristwatch but without a wedding ring and no husband anywhere to be found. Indeed the press has yet to locate evidence of a legal marriage. No wedding announcement. No marriage license. No photos or press coverage. Curious to learn if his purported husband/fiancé/partner has a green card or citizenship, or has hightailed it to Brazil.

He submitted paperwork stating he “loaned” $25,000 to one of his PACs which turned around and contributed that amount to the campaign of Lee Zeldin.

The PAC has apparently “repaid” the loan.
