Problem with AmEx Blue Cash Preferred

I've had this card for a few months now. I got it because of the 6% back on groceries and 3% back on gas. In reviewing this month's billing statement, I was shocked they only counted just over $100 toward the 6% back when I'd spent over $700 at Safeway and Giant in the previous billing period!

After 40 minutes on the phone, they agreed all my grocery store charges were in fact eligible and gave me a statement credit for the remaining balance. They said there was some snafu in their rewards system, I guess, and should now be corrected.

So this post is part PSA - if you use this card, check you are getting your eligible reward dollars!

Also this is part question - have long time members of this card had this sort of trouble in the past? I like the rewards for this card but I have no interest in wasting 40 minutes on the phone each month making sure my rewards are allocated properly.
