Do you have a deep freezer?

If so, what capacity?

What do you freeze? I cook a lot and have never felt the need for one, but perhaps if I had one I would be more inclined to make large batches of stock and sauces.

Do you freeze meat too? What kind and how long?

Our new house came with a deep freezer, and I love it! When it does, I'll definatley buy a new one. I freeze homemade: stock, marinara sauce, pizza dough, bread, challah, chili, soup and usually one or two casseroles. Also, when flour or Morningstar stuff is on sale, I'll buy it and keep it in the freezer.

I have no idea the size of mine, but it is big.

It is put to good use. After thanksgiving I buy a few Orgainc birds on sale for a pretty cheap price. I also buy my meat in bulk from local farmers, so really only get my meat every 18 months or so. I also make dozens of seasoned burgers in advance of summer, so if we have a party I throw delicious frozen patties on the grill. No work, no mess, but healthy grass fed patties. I also do chicken and beef broth in mason jars. I freeze pizza dough (frozen dough is way better and easier to make into thin crust than freshly made). I do PYO strawberries, blueberries, peaches and blackberries and freeze a ton for smoothies and desserts. I grow a ton of basil in the summer and freeze a lot of pesto for the year.

I do not freeze vegetables, as I hate the taste of frozen veggies.

I would like one for breast milk. Otherwise, I'm not sure I'd use it as things that went in might never come out.

We have a small upright freezer. I use it to store homemade stocks, dumplings, wontons and dog treats. We don't like to stockpile food, so this works for us.
