I have been living in chronic pain for years now. I have tried everything from seeing top specialists to physical therapy to surgeries. I have no underlying auto immune diseases, the pain has resulted from injuries. I've heard stories about people finding amazing pain relief from acupuncture. Has anyone here been to an acupuncturist and found relief? Please share your stories and any good local practitioners. Feedback much appreciated.
There's a Chinese M.D. Acupuncturist on Route 7/Leesburg Pk who takes BCBS.

I've gone fairly regularly for the last eight or nine years - first for severe upper back-neck pain due to stress tension and now (much less frequently) for general wellness. Swear by it. If you're not sure, there's a good community acupuncture practice in Dupont called City Circle Acupuncture (?) - it works on a sliding fee scale so you only pay $20-50/visit, which makes it a little easier to "try out."
Yep, it has really helped me w/chronic back pain and headaches. You will know pretty quickly whether or not you respond well, so I think it's worth a shot...
I tried it once for chronic pain in my feet. I visited at least 20 times. Didn't work for me. Maybe I have bad karma
I have tried acupuncture twice for chronic conditions (for which some studies said it could help) and it did nothing for me. I was told if you don't see a benefit after 4 to 6 visits you should stop, which I did. The downside is the time and expense. I do know people who have had great experiences with acupuncture, so its worth a try.
Thank you for your responses. I will definitely give it a try to see if it helps.
It helped me with sciatica. I saw Dr. Sniezek in Foggy Bottom. He has experience treating chronic pain. Definitely give it a try.
