| I'm tired of the flat flavor I get from chili powder. Any local places sell dried chilies at a good price or online? |
|
Any Indian, Oriental, Hispanic, African, Middle Eastern grocery store.
Use dried chilies and use a coffee grinder (dedicated to grinding spices) to make powder. |
|
Is that better than soaking them and then pureeing?

Where do you live, OP?
We live in Del Ray and buy them at the Foodway in Arlandria. |
| I live in Takoma dc! |
I don't think there is a difference. Dried powdered form means that you can store and reuse the leftovers. Also be aware that different types of chilis have different level of heat. Ask at the store. I prefer the slender green chilies you get in the oriental and Indian stores. They are very hot. |

They sell them at WF, MOM, or any Hispanic market. I'm not in that area but I'm guessing there a bunch of Hispanic markets around SS.

Penzeys.
You can buy online. They have a store in Rockville, and a couple in Virginia. They have whole ancho, Arbol, pasilla, guajillo, chipotle, Tsien tsien, Dundicut chiles to name a few. They also sell a variety of chili powders and seasoning mixes, top quality. The prices are good too. |
| Takoma DC has a Latino market on Eastern ave and georgia (next to the Laundromat). They have dried chillies. It's a little market calked Progresso market. |

Thanks everyone!
