Property tax assessment after renovation?

For those who have done major home renovations in Montgomery County:

1. Did the renovation trigger a new property tax assessment outside of the regular three year cycle?
2. Did you have to start paying the full tax on the new assessed value, or were you still subject to the rule that the property tax cannot increase by more than 10 percent each year?
