This might be a question that only MCPS teachers can answer. I have a teacher telling me she thinks my son is Proficient in a subject, but his grades averaged to an I because there were only two assignments that the grades were averaged from, neither on paper. The first assignment was before they mastered the topic and was an I and the other was a P. She said the computer averages an I and a P as an I. Can a teacher override the computer average if she thinks the student was proficient by the end of the marking period? It doesn't make sense to me on a number of levels. |
A teacher can override a grade. Also, she is supposed to have at least 3 grades per measurement topic. Is this a grade 4 or 5 teacher? They are new to the grading program this year. |
Thanks for your response. It's a specials teacher who has been a part of the new grading system before. Interesting to find out there are supposed to be 3 grades per measurement topic. She specifically said there were two in this case.

I don't think these report cards mean much. I'd be concerned if my kid got an N. |
Does three grades per measurement topic mean there are supposed to be three grades averaged together for each report card grade? Again, this is probably a question for any MCPS teachers out there.
