Grocery Budget

Thoughts on what a grocery budget should be for 2 adults and a 15 month old? We do like our organic meats and veggies.

Thanks for any insight.

We spend about $600 for two adults and twin toddlers. Mostly organic meats, dairy and veggies.

Is the $600.00 just for food or some other items like paper towels, foil, etc? And how much is spent of food/supplies for the baby? Thanx.

$600 is just for food. I used to coupon and get a lot of paper goods and personal care items for nearly free. Now that my business has taken off, I just don't have the time, but I'm still working through many saved bottles of free shampoo, etc.

$200 is probably what the kids cost in food. They mainly eat what we eat, but it do have some kid specific foods like squeeze pouches and other snacks.

We also spend about $250/ month eating out

My goal is $400/month, but that rarely happens. That would include mostly organic, and one adult bringing lunch every day to work. Our kid eats like a horse.

Where can you find a month's worth of organic food for $400---or $600?!?!? Every time I shop at Whole Foods, I walk out $200 later with two to three bags of groceries---which will last a few days, maybe one week with superlative planning.

We consistently spend $750-800 per month for two adults, a 4yo and a 6yo. This includes four trips to Giant for the bulk of the food and four trips to Whole Foods/Balducci's for meat/fish/specialty items.

$150/week if you eat organic and you eat all of your meals at home.

And that does not include paper products or diapers. We use Amazon.

I was the first PP. Whole foods is a last resort for me. I get groceries at BJs, Kroger and Harris Teeter. I probably shop whole foods once a month to get things not available at the regular stores.

We spend ~$1000-~$1200 for a family of four. Two are boys ages 14 and 16.

We're at $1100 for two adults and a 1 y and 4 y. Includes Dh lunch out at work, and me too sometimes.

We're at $1200 or so for a family of 4 (kids are in elementary). Almost every meal at home, packed lunches all round. Pretty much all organic, with grass-fed meat, etc. so I consider our grocery budget pretty lavish.

$100 a week for family of 3, including a 6 year old boy. Meat from farmers, produce is organic and is from the farmers market and grocery stores.

That doesn't include any paper goods, or the occasional school lunches. It also doesn't what DH is spending at work for lunch.

Dining out is not included and happens once a month.
