Claiming chcpb on taxes

Anonymous
Chcpb is a paid for version of tricare for people who lost tricare. Aged out or other reasons. I want to claim the premiums and money I paid out like 6000 a year. I don't get a sa1099 though. Any ideas.

if it's over 10% of your adjusted gross income i think you can just claim it as a deduction, provided you have documentation. otherwise I think you can't

Again, you need evidence you made the payments.

So, if you earn $40,000 a year and the premiums cost $6,000, you can deduct $2,000 of it. That would represent a tax savings of around $300 to you.

I get that. But when you fill in turbotax for premiums paid it says you cannot put amount paid to government. Its not true tricare its an extension.
