I live in a traditional colonial. I LOATHE the formal living room. It is quite small and we already have a family room. It is completely usless for our lifestyle.
Anyone do anything creative with a formal living room? Right now it stores our enormous amount of kids sports gear. |
How old are kids? Playroom? Study/den for homework. Home office for you and spouse. Library. Also depends on where it is in the overall layout of your house. |
Ping pong table |
We have one as well. If we had a piano it would be the piano room. For now, its the room we dust and vacuum once a month. |
Bar/lounge set up. Funky mom's area - hot pink walls if you like - black walls. Crazy room theme Alice in Wonderland. Go nuts. |
Ice luge |
Dj booth, lasers , rave room |
You are onto something, but I think I'm more of a hookah room kind of mom. |
My living room became the de facto mudroom for my four boys sports gear. Can you shut it off with French doors and make it a nice mud room temporarily? |
I actually thought of that! I was goggling mud room furniture because that is pretty much what it is used for now. It is loaded with lacrosse, Baseball, and Basketball gear right now-plus what seems like a thousand pairs of snow boots. |
Add built ins and make it a cozy, TV free library/sitting room.
The room that is always clean and does not embarrass you when unexpected company drops in. |
Band practice room. Pool room. Photo studio. Video game den. Meth lab. |
Close it off and make an Office? |
Or, open it up and make room next to it larger. |
Game room (depending on how old kids are). Ours hold all the freaking game systems. We purchased a huge flat screen tv with great quality. Added very cozy chairs and sofas. It's the room that gets used the most. Great for movies and games for the family |
