So she DID linger in the hospital in the ICU for weeks before succumbing to her injuries. Now William is crapping his pants and put out the doctored pic to “prove” she’s totes fine.

I don’t know about “evidence” but this one is not hard to imagine for most any parents who aren’t used to sending off 8 yr olds to boarding schools where, among whatever other issues, abuse is known and rampant.

I’m nicer than pp, so I will high level it for you.

Kate was adamantly opposed to George attending Etan. It’s got a bad rep (boys are exactly humble, in touch with society, etc. Not the crowd Kate wants G to be dropped into 24/7). She was pushing for her school - coed, nicer culture, etc.

William won that battle and George is going to Eton.

Thoughts are that Kate is using all the leverage she’s got to turn that decision around.

How does photoshopping a pic play into that? Or her hospital stay?

She is refusing to cooperate with any royal duties unless she gets her way about the school. She has leverage because a divorce would be disastrous for the royal family. Not sure about the hospital stay though.

She doesn't really have any leverage. Charles himself is divorced. Allowing (or planting) negative stories about her in the media does not suggest she is in the power position. More likely she is being pushed out.

Agreed. Idk why people suddenly think Kate is okay with having her reputation dragged through the mud. I do think she's leveraging for whatever but she's in the place of power.

She's not being pushed out. There are negative stories about all of them, including her. Because gossip sells. Not because she is being divorced in the court of public opinion. Sheesh.

I think the fact that she signed up for this suggests the Eton theory is wrong. Like someone 100 pages back stated, she seems like she was build in a lab for this life. No way would she throw such a public fit about something totally expected, no matter how displeased she was about it.

Oh, you missed a theory one or two days ago that Rose Hanbury’s kids are William’s, and that William can decide to add them to the line of succession. I think some folks here tried to watch Wolf Hall on PBS but the pace and quality were a little too up there for them, so they’ve put things into terms they can sort of understand. So William is like Henry VIII and anyone with a triple-digit IQ on this thread is an unfortunate Cromwell stand-in.

This is a really good primer that will also clarify a bunch of stuff that gets muddy on the thread (including WHY people are worked up about this, and for many/most people, it's not because they are conspiracy theorists but because the palace's behavior here is weird):

But regarding the royal rota deal, the gist of it is that the BRF tightly controls information that they release about the royal family and their press office(s) (different palaces have their own press, so William & Catherine have a different press staff than Charles & Camilla) do not operate as a typical government press office. Nor the way celebrity press works.

The royal rota is a select group of reporters who are permitted at events and photo ops (like the one of the King and Camilla when he was released from the hospital) and who then share their info with the rest of the media. Only UK media outlets are on the royal rota, and it includes tabloids like the Daily Mail, which is something Harry and Meghan have complained about, because it is a bit odd that the royal family would preference access to the family for tabloid that have a history of writing highly critical things, including many lies, about the family.

But it's basically an open secret that the BRF has arrangements with these publications, including and perhaps especially the tabloids, to supply them with a steady stream of royal info and drama IF the royal family can have some control over what is published and what isn't. And the royal rota largely complies, including legitimate outlets like the BBC and the Guardian.

So for instance, the family has a gag order on "unapproved" paparazzi photos of members of the family when they are "off duty." Sometimes the palace will authorize such photos and may even set them up and alert media outlets that royals will be in a certain place at a certain time (for instance, as a way of getting a photo out of an ailing royal to reassure the public they are okay, as has been done in the past with the QEII and Prince Philip).

Any paparazzi photos of the children are under the gag order, which is why you never see photos of the kids unless the family approves of them.

The photo of Carole Middleton last week with someone who might be Catherine (but also might have been Pippa) was explicitly banned, for instance. It was taken by an American outlet (TMZ) and has been broadly picked up by other foreign outlets, but all UK press have complied with the palace's gag order request, and you will not see that photo in any UK publication, even the tabloids. This is because they know if they want to stay in the rota, and in the palace's good graces, they have to play by the palace's rules.

That's the gist of the royal rota, and why many people are suspicious especially of how Catherine's absence is being handled in the UK press. But I highly recommend reading the article/interview linked above, which also gets into how the palace leaks/plants stories in the press, and how the way this has been handled for Catherine since January is unusual, catching the attention even of many who are accustomed to how the the BRF and UK Press work. Something is amiss.
