DH and I are hoping to use a gift cert a week from Saturday. Clearly this means that they are fully booked. We are earlyish eaters (6:30)... Any thoughts on my chances of walking in and getting a table? Having a worthwhile dining experience at the bar? Getting off the wait list? Or should we not bother and make a res. somewhere else?
Call them. Sometimes they will let you in at 5-5:30 if you tell them you will not make it a long dinner. You will have to be out of there by 6:30 or what ever time they say.
Can't you go to Blue Duck some other time when you can get a reservation? If you go through with your plan, you'll resent being rushed through the meal, either by the staff or by your own sense that you need to get in and out, and you'll have bad memories of a restaurant that can provide an excellent, delicious experience if you have a reservation.
There used to be tables in the bar area (some surrounded by glass, so in their own little bubble). You could probably order a full dinner in there, but you'd have to ask first. It's a great place. ENJOY!
FYI - it's more fun to have a reservation and sit near the kitchen. You can see everything and it's very interesting.
