I need guidelines as to how to find a good therapist for DD with anxiety disorder - Fairfax/Burke

I need to go through insurance for budget purposes. I have no idea who to choose off the list from our insurance company. Would you choose a psychologist over a masters level clinician? Do you think the degree matters?

We are looking for a female therapist in the Fairfax, Springfield, Burke, or Lorton area.

I don't know anyone who takes insurance -- sorry. When I tried to find someone (BCBS) it seemed impossible. Sorry!

Agree on finding someone with insurance. Next to impossible. I am in Fairfax and called dozens of them. I pay out of pocket for someone I love. She's a LCSW and very good. My child previously saw a pschologist and to be honest, the better fit was with the LCSW. Really that is the most important thing. You might have to try out and see what works for your child. I totally get the budget issue, but I put aside 2500 in my pretax and so does my husband and that pays for most of it. Its a sacrifice for sure but its been lifechanging for my very anxious child.

I go to Cherie Kitchell in Burke. She's an LCSW and has taken multiple insurances from me over the years. I also started going for general anxiety/stress/borderline depression

What is an LCWS? My child has anxiety issues and we're just getting started on this.
