If you wanted to start an arabic charter

Anonymous
I've heard a lot of talk on this board about parents interested in starting an arabic charter school. I think one of the missing ingredients is families with native arabic speakers. There just isny that many in DC. But cross the border into Arlington/Falls church you have a huge ararbic speaking population. I wonder if there's any interest in starting a charter down there...

Does that area have charters?

I don't think you're going to find much interest on the DC schools forum for starting a Falls Church charter, if they even have any.

Wrong forum.

DC's public schools and public charters schools generally only educate kids from DC -- and Maryland!

Why don't you move to Virginia and ask them?

The level of stupid here is unbelievable...

They actually teach Arabic at several of the schools. I think Latin and Haynes also provide it as an option. Personally I would like to have it as an option.

I would be interested

OP your post is totally confusing. Are you interested in starting an Arabic bilingual charter in VA? Then why aren't you posting in the VA school forum? Your whole point seems to be there aren't enough native Arabic speakers inside DC to have a critical mass for a school but there are in VA. If so, why post in the DC forum?

Wasn't there a school a few years ago that didn't get their Charter Approved? It should be public information to see what they proposed.

Only about 25% of completed applications receive approval to open from the public charter school board. You can find old applications here:

Well they could join up with the French Green Bean school. It would be a good fit.

^^(sorry, the Arabic characters were not recognized)

We take Arabic on the weekends, in addition to the fact that my kids are older and would not be a target for this type of school as they generally start with the earliest grades I am not sure I would apply to the school. Frankly I would worry about the insane gotcha politics that have surrounded Arabic charter schools.
